Udacity.com
Udacity is a different kind of eLearning site than we’ve reviewed so far, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less fantastic. In fact, we were highly impressed with Udacity’s mission statement, which is that “The lecture is dead.”
We wouldn’t go THAT far, but there are certainly many classes that will be better taught if students are allowed to learn outside of simply being told things. Most of the courses offered by Udacity.com work along the same lines, presenting classes that are traditionally considered “boring” and attempting to make them interesting.
This site is much less open-source than Siminars and Udemy, and it shows in the way the site is set up. This is not necessarily the same kind of eLearning platform, where anyone can wander in and teach a class, but that doesn’t mean the site is without its merits.

Need eLearning Software with audacity? Try Udacity. Udacity
- Udacity.com eLearning Tool: Summary Overview?
Udacity.com, which we believe is pronounced “YOUdacity.com,” aims to take the boring out of college. It advertises itself as a very audacious website, which provides instruction in a variety of courses at a variety of levels, and for a variety of reasons.
Firm, passionate instructors are the backbone of the website, of course, and class feedback from students is invaluable for other students in deciding which courses to take.
- Udacity: Who It’s For
Udacity.com is a site for students. It’s not the kind of lifetime learning curriculum that is so popular on other sites, but there is certainly merit to the way it’s structured. This site makes it certain that you can take classes anywhere, at any time, in a small variety of subjects.
Essentially, Udacity.com is college. It’s aimed at three groups of people: high school students, college students, and professionals looking to switch careers at some point.
For high school students, Udacity.com offers the opportunity to find out if certain college classes are right for them, by allowing them to take college courses of any level at any time, as well as for free. As an additional incentive, some classes even offer college credit to the taker. In today’s world of overbooked classes and lecture halls, that can be the saving grace for anyone wanting to get ahead of the pack.
The second group of people at whom Udacity.com is targeted is current college students. Especially for students who have a rough time learning required courses in a certain proscribed manner, this can be a very nice way for them to pick up a certain requirement and fulfill it without having to sit through a class they hate. Since some classes fulfill college credit, it can be a springboard to bypassing boring classes. The other nice thing it can do is provide a great introduction to subjects many students dislike, but present them in easy-to-handle, bite-sized video formats.
The third group of people to whom Udacity is targeted is professionals looking to switch careers. Since the classes are all at-your-own-pace, there are no deadlines to miss, and nothing to prevent someone wanting to make a career hop from completing a course. This is especially handy if you need to absorb some on-the-spot knowledge and have a great, self-motivated attitude about learning.
- Udacity.com: Core eLearning Features
Udacity operates very much like an actual college catalog. You sign on to the website, choose your subject, choose a course level, and sign up. It’s shockingly easy to do, and can make it a great way for those who have issues with traditional college classes to finally learn about the classes they’ve been putting off.
The limitation, of course, is that this site is not designed for teachers. If you’re looking for a way to hook your students up with a great course that you’re certain will deliver a great product instantly, this is a great site to use. If you’re looking to create your own course, however, this isn’t the place. You’ll be better off for that with something like Siminars.
All of the courses offered by Udacity.com are either offered through a college, usually San Jose State University. Since they’re offered through a state university (of California), the credits are almost all very transferrable, which cuts down on overflow in college classes.
- Udacity.com Review: What’s Great About Udacity.com
Udacity.com can cut down hard on the amount of lecture time a student has to spend in the classroom. Even for classes that are still required, if a student is already vetted through a program like Udacity, they can usually test out of boring, lecture-based introductory-level classes.
By setting up an online classroom based around making the most of the time a student has and actually getting them interested in the work they do, Udacity.com aims to cut down on a lot of the “bore” of college.
- Udacity.com Review: What’s Not So Great About Udacity.com
The website is buggy. Really, really slow and buggy, especially around times that a lot of students are out of school and taking courses.
Another thing we didn’t love so much is the very limited range of courses. The fact is, the range of courses is limited because absolutely every course is stellar and well-designed.
The only courses offered are in the following categories: Business, Computer Science, Math, Physics, and Psychology.
While this may seem like very few classes, it’s important to remember just how many students are currently enrolled in classes in those subjects that they hate. By cutting down on the amount of students suffering their way through beginning Psychology classes and enrolling them in credit-earning alternatives, more students will be able to follow the career paths they truly want to pursue.
This is responsible for the reason Udacity.com is so high up on our list. The ease of use is somewhat lower than some of the other products for eLearning that we’ve reviewed, but the fact that there are so many real-world applications of the products makes up for that in spades. Whether for students wanting to try out majors before switching, high schoolers wanting to see if they can handle college life, or professionals cramming for a brand new career, this can be a great website to try out a new subject.
- Udacity.com Pricing / Cost Explained
If you’re looking to get rich quick by offering courses to students for a fee, Udacity.com is not for you. In fact, it’s so quick and free to sign up for a course that right when we started our Udacity review, we accidentally enrolled in a college algebra course.
Udacity is free for students, one hundred % of the time. They can take any class at any time, totally for free. That’s pretty easy pricing.
- The Final Word: Udacity Conclusion
Udacity is a fascinating and engaging platform that is fantastic for current students. It’s not the best for anyone wanting to make money, but nor is it as grasping as some other sites.
Now if you’ll excuse us, we have an algebra lesson to attend.
unfortunately i cannot give udacity a positive reiew, for me it just falls flat, i have created a number of courses online before but this one is not good
compared this to a bunch of other elearning tools and i have to say for my field, this will work fabulously. i can’t wait to get started on it!
NOT the best software for creating courses. i could really use anything else and be happier with it, this one just falls short of the mark
i have been trying out a lot of different elearning platform software, and udacity is just sort of eh? i’m not really sure that this is the right product for me if i am going to push out a lot of content
A+ rating for this one! I really think this is a great, professional tool to put your coursework to work and spread more knowledge to the internet community!
Udacity is REALLY deserving of a lot of positive reviews. I will be using this when i create all of my courses in the future and I am very excited to see what kind of revenue I pull in.
THIS IS DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE ELEARNING TOOL. In my mind there is nothing more professional than this and it is very easy to supplement your classes with this kind of material.
went about trying this on a test run and i was actually very pleased. i think that for most people creating courses for money this will not work but for me it was great.
NOT ONE OF THE BETTER PLATFORMS OUT THERE. That being said, udacity does have a place…just don’t expect to make a ton of money with it
this is not so much an elearning distribution tool as it is a study tool i think? i am not really certain why anyone would bother with this if they are trying to market their information, this is more for people that don’t want to go to college
Happy to review Udacity because it honestly is a great, professional little hunk of software that does a great job in accomplishing what I want: creating great classes!
compared to everything else, i really think this is the cream of the crop. it is DESIGNED to mimic college classes and it does a great job of doing that!
I am not sure this software is really for me but it seems pretty good so far. Overall i think it is more designed a supplemental material, not so much pushing information out
NOT my favorite platform and i think that udacity is really just not the kind of thing i need to use when i am trying to push out information from my ebooks
not the highest rating from me. this was not what i expected at all and i feel like there are other programs out there that are better suited to the task
I love leaving positive reviews on things that I really enjoyed! Udacity is one of those and it is consistently just a better performer than any other software that I have tried to use!
a GREAT tool and i will not be switching any time soon. i have had many courses published and utilized and i think that i will go back to this company for more
I meant to try this out as a test and i ended up LOVING some of the courses… i will be back to try more of these out and utilize them in my own course making ideas in the future
not my favorite platform when it comes to elearning but udacity does have its perks. it is a clean and professional site, i just wish it offered more options.
for elearning i really think this falls flat. it’s just the same old stuff you see everywhere else and i think i could find some of these courses on every website
A++ review from me! Udacity really helped me broaden my horizons and get a lot of courses underneath my belt. this place is the BEST if you are looking for information!
compared to a lot of elearning wbsites, this one is AMAZING and really goes out of its way to help you along. i am extremely thrilled with the services that they offer!
not the best software out there and i will be looking around for others, but in the meantime, this does just fine. it seems a little more college geared than i was expecting.
honestly a solid platform but udacity just isn’t what i need for my own business. i think that my work needs to focus less on college based classes in the future.
for me this is an A+ rating. i think that this website covers all the basis, is professional, clean, and easy to use, and i will be back for more courses!
seen a lot of reviews that RAVE about udacity and i just have to roll my eyes. it’s the same thing over and over, i don’t really understand how this site is any better
an EXTREMELY helpful tool if you are looking to learn about how courses work, you can use this site for an example on almost anything, really helpful and informative
no test for me, this place is great. that being said i think it is very college oriented and i don’t think that’s really the best for the business my own work needs to be going
THIS IS JUST LIKE A TON OF OTHER PLATFORMS. udacity is ok but you have to realize so many other sites do it, too, and sometimes better!
for elearning i don’t think this one can be beat in LACK OF QUALITY. i feel like the standards have slipped so low, this is just like any other free course site online!
Udacity is so exciting for me to review because I LOVE IT. i have not found a better site re: courses and I think that it is so professional and easy to use!
I have not found ANYTHING that can be compared to this. everything i need is in one place and i am thrilled to be able to use this site!
one of the better elearning software i have messed around with but i am not all that thrilled with it. seems like a lot of the same stuff i have seen on other websites and i am not the most thrilled
For an elearning platform i think it is okay. udacity isn’t exactly what i was expecting, i was looking for a way to push my ebook content but this isn’t really it
D- on this one for me as far as my rating goes. i think that this is not a great site for a wide array of interests, mostly just seems kind of college oriented
read a ton of reviews before jumping on this bandwagon and i have to say i am IMPRESSED with udacity! i will be back to try more courses later on!
an EXTREMELY helpful tool to get ahead in lots of different coursework! you will see a huge change in the way you look at things after experiencing this site!
went into this expecting something different but the test run still proved that i enjoy this site quite a bit! no complaints from me, it just was not what i had in mind
udacity is not really the kind of thing you want to use for elearning platforms…it’s just not very well organized, the courses are not that good, and i am not happy with it
this is the new face of elearning as far as i am concerned. you really can’t beat this if you are trying to look into a bunch of new courses to boost up your knowledge!
i REALLY wanted a site that would give me ebook content, this is not it, a negative review for udacity for me because i think it was advertised incorrectly
compared to a DOZEN other elearning sites and i still really prefer this one! the content is really good and stable and i haven’t had any bugs so far!
sometimes this site and its software tends to make my computer lag but otherwise it seems awesome. i have no complaints with it at all other than that lagging!
i don’t think this is the elearning platform for me. i really think that udacity is more meant for college kids or high schoolers and that’s about the short of it.
seen a lot of great rating blogs give this one a high mark and i had to give it a try! i was not disappointed. i think that it is a great elearning hub for most users.
the rave reviews make me laugh…udacity is a joke, you will not be able to learn anything here, you can’t even make your own content, it just isn’t good
REALLY A GREAT TOOL FOR LEARNING. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! i have taken so many courses here and each one has been fantastic and well put together!
I went into this website just to test it out and I ended up completely sold on it! It’s a great site and I think some people are confused about what it is actually for but I loved it
platforms like this are a dime a dozen and udacity is nothing new at all. don’t waste your time with this one, there a lot of sites that do it better, this is only good for simple things
NOT a good elearning site. pass on this and try oh, i don’t know, any hundred other ones out there? you will find much more interesting content anywhere else.
my reivew of this is nothing but positive. i love udacity and all of its coursework. i havent found a better elearning website yet and am a bit addicted to this one!
i have directed SO MANY new clients to this and they have compared this to pure gold. it’s such a great website for elearning and i have no issues with it at all!
pretty good software online though i find it very laggy and difficult to use at times. i have found out that my computer just doesn’t like this website at times lol
this is not the best platform for elearnign that i have found so far, udacity is usually ok but overall it just has a lot of the same material that other sites do as well
sadly i have to give this a negative rating…it’s just basically college classes all over again…i am not impressed with this and wish i could market my own stuff on here
LOTS OF POSITIVE REVIEWS AND I WILL BE ONE AS WEL!! UDACITY IS MY NEW FAVORITE ELEARNING SITE, I HAVE TAKEN A TON OF COURSES AND AM THRILLED AND EXCITED TO TAKE EVEN MORE
this is a fantastic tool if you use it correctly! i have never been let down on this site and it is great for going at your own pace. a real winner in my eyes.
i am not a great test taker lol so this site was a little daunting to me at first…i am still not entirely sold on it and i think there are better programs but i am still giving it a try
this is less about elearning and more about the same old stuf you see EVERYWHERE ELSE. i am not sold on udacity and its platforms and i will be trying other sites
not the best elearning site by far and it is because it really is just duplicates of everything i have seen elsewhere, giant pass on this one
sadly i have to give udacity a negative review because i just am not satisfied with the content and i think that it could have been done so much better, just a waste
there is nothing compared to this site as an elearning hub! it is clean, professional, and easy to use, and i will be back time and time again for more!
one of the best software i have used so far but i am still trying out others. this one can be sometimes a little laggy and that is annoying when my computer can’t keep up
a DECENT platform but udacity is far from the best. it has a lot of flaws and it could really use some updating in my opinion. may or may not recommend.
F rating on my end. i think that this needs some SERIOUS tweaks to actually be marketable. i would not sell my courses on this site at any rate.
there are so many good reviews and i honestly find that puzzling. udacity is NOT anything new and you can really find this content anywhere online with a much better layout.
EXTREMELY HELPFUL AS A TOOL! i really enjoy going on this website and checking out all the new courses, highly recommended and i send it to my clients as well
I tried this out just as a test and ended up kind of addicted. the course material is actually pretty good, though some of it is repetitive i will keep trying it out.
for elearning platforms this one just falls short of the mark. i think udacity is just repetition of things i have seen EVERYWHERE ELSE ONLINE and that is troublesome
not really good for elearning to be honest. i think that there are so many other sites that do the job in a much better fashion and are less geared towards just college kids
I had to leave a review on this because i honestly love Udacity! I have found a wealth of information here and while it would be nice to market my own courses like this i would find that daunting lol
COMPARED TO EVERY OTHER SITE….THIS IS REALLY THE BEST! I have had NO issues with this one compared to so many other elearning hubs! highly recommended to all my clients!
this is a decent enough software though i have used a bunch and this one sometimes is laggy in comparison, i will keep using it though because the courses are good
NOT A GOOD ELEARNING PLATFORM AND I WILL NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE ELSE EITHER. i think that there are so many more and varied options out there
not deserving of the positive rating that so many other reviewers give this place. i feel like this site just has a lot of duplicate content and that drives me insane!
